Awakening Tips

A Call From Your Heart

Dear Blessed One,

Knock
Knock
Who’s there
You
You who
No, You period

Sometimes that’s a bit difficult to digest, especially when it sure looks like someone is doing to us, or something outside of us is happening to us and we are the innocent victim.

Life, God, the Universe, whatever you want to call It, moves thru us as spontaneous Self-expression. There is always an inner impulse to know That which animates us, which facilitates opportunities to move into the next highest expression of the self.

As God-spontaneously-expressing-through-us, we call in the people to trigger the experiences that cause the growth we’re so longing for (and it’s mutual). Beautifully designed, all parties benefit, even when it’s not visible to the naked eye.

The challenge at times is to not get lost in the drama as the events unfold.

See if you can bring awareness to the Watcher.

Example: Pay attention the next time you’re watching a movie that completely takes you away, so much so that you are feeling anxious or scared, or are even crying. In that moment you can awaken and remember that you’re watching a movie, that you’re safe in a theater, and that you paid to experience this.

This is a great way to be with life’s dramas. Not at all to dissociate from life or your feelings but to create just a bit of space from the drama so you can drop in more deeply to see what it is that’s wanting to be noticed. And to remember that this is God-expressing in front of you, offering a gift that is only an answering to a call from your heart.

This deeper, more grounded viewing brings a sharper focus allowing clarity and truth to arise rather than just getting swept away by one of life’s movies.

Consider the Lilies

Dear Blessed One,

Earth Angels . . ahhh . . you try so hard.

It’s much more enjoyable to rest and flow with life rather than resisting all the dips and curves. A friend once said to me that running up and down the aisle in the airplane will not get me to my destination any faster, so sit down and enjoy the flight. I heard her, really got it, and something inside of me relaxed that day so many years ago.

This doesn’t mean lay down and wait for life to tell you what to do, unless of course it does for you. I guarantee you can only lay there for as long as your inner guide will allow you to and eventually you’ll be moved to get up and interact with life again. However, as you do, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”

We are like the lilies of the field or the mighty oak. We are seedlings and as a seedling, efforting is not necessary. The seed in the earth does not try to grow faster or taller or have a need to produce more fruit or flowers. It rests with life, follows That which goes before it without a need to know, experiencing each nuance of itself as it arises in the moment. It bends with the wind, wilts with draught, and surges up with vibrant life again after a little rain.

You are in the process from seedling, to cracking open with the rain, to being fed with the soil’s nutrients, and reaching for the sun’s light. It’s a natural process with growth spurts that are quite often uncomfortable.

See if you can let Life do what she does, flow. Follow the breath and drop into the body to soften the mind when it’s insisting that you DO something. When the mind rests, Creative Inspiration can flow. Follow That.

Under Construction

Dear Blessed One,

Got the flat-zone blues? Don’t worry about these times; they are just resting periods for the psyche as the body adjusts to an increase in energy.

Whenever something has integrated/healed and the energy in your field increases, often one can go through what I call the flat-zone. I sense it’s a time when the mind just can’t keep up with what’s happening energetically and so it goes into a coasting period where it says ‘blah’ to everything.

Most of us do not enjoy being in the flat-zone but it’s a sign that things are moving. There’s no need to fix it. See if you can relax into the flatness and just allow yourself to be there.

It can help the process tremendously by feeling into it. Don’t confuse this with a fix. This is actually just being fully present for what’s here. What does flatness feel like? Where is it located in your body? Does it have a texture or color? Is there emotion around it?

The most natural way of being is being present to ‘what is’. For many, it’s counterintuitive to what we’re taught. However, the natural way has no resistance or judgment to what’s here, it just sees without projections and then moves according to how ones being wants to respond. If resistance or judgment comes in as you’re in the middle of the flat-zone, be natural and allow that too! You’ll be surprised how quickly things can shift when there is no resistance to it.

Feeling flat? Allow that, and put up a sign in your mind or hang one where you can see it to remind yourself, “Under Construction!”

Hold Tight, It’s Alright

Dear Blessed One,

Do you feel at times that you’re holding on to the life you know and to who you are by your fingertips? That if you loosen your grip it may all fall away and send you tumbling into emptiness?

About a year before my awakening, I had an intense dream. Skipping all the details, a man grabbed my hand and said he wanted to talk with me outside. I followed him along a path that was getting more and more narrow and I was on the slope-side. It was getting slippery and the slope was now a cliff. The path had become so narrow, I could no longer hold with my feet, slipped, and grabbed in the dirt with my fingertips.

My whole body was hanging over the cliff as he ran to get help. I couldn’t even scream for fear that the lung expansion would cause me to lose my grip. I was squeaking out a help and a gardener came running over with a shovel but noticed the shovel-head was loose and he yelled not to grab it. The other guy came back with a stick but I was already slipping and I couldn’t let go to grab hold for fear of falling. The anxiety of the dream finally woke my body up and I was shaken by how real it seemed.

After sitting with the dream, I began to sense that my path to awakening had become extremely narrow. I had tried so many things, still was not awake, and did not know what else to do. My mind kept telling me to DO SOMETHING! The beautiful gift of all the doing I had done at that point was the absolute knowing that there was nothing else I could do, not even breathe and let go, and trust in the ‘not doing’.

I discovered that holding-tight was truly alright. Life was doing me and the tension and pressure that holding-tight was creating was actually the fire of transformation that pushed me into awakening. Perfect.

Holding on to something? Afraid of the abyss? Just notice; bring in the light of awareness while you go ahead and hold as tight as you have to until the edge lets go of you. Life is doing you so there’s really nothing to do.

Into The Heart Of Addiction

Dear Blessed One,

Do you ever sense a stirring or a restlessness, a longing or a hunger with seemingly nothing wrong in your life? Sometimes it may show up as a gnawing in the pit of your stomach or irritability. It’s that thing that most people have great difficulty just being with. The usual reaction to that restlessness is a reaching out of oneself for the thing or things that make us feel better or distract us from it.

I’ve had many things in my past; alcohol, drugs, sugar, TV, spiritual paths – to name just a few. That reaching out of oneself in an attempt to satiate an inner hunger can show up in many ways.

The answer is not on the outside. I’ve heard it said, “Go within or go without.” All those things I was reaching for were like throwing pebbles into an abyss. Nothing was landing. Nothing was getting resolved. As time moved on, the restlessness was actually getting bigger! I’ve seen that longing drive some people to the brink of madness.

In 12-step programs, I’ve heard the stirring described as a God-sized hole in the soul. Something clicked for me the first time I heard that. “Of course,” I thought, it’s God-within whispering to me to come home, and since I was far from home (or so it seemed) this finite human form was unconsciously (and sometimes desperately) looking for relief in many ways.

I wasn’t taught to sit quietly and drop into my body, to feel the feeling of longing, stirring, or inner aching. I didn’t know that to locate the feeling in my body and just be with it would allow integration of old wounds to take place. I wasn’t told to jump into the heart of addiction and to fully feel that restlessness without reaching out for something to relieve it.

Addiction shows up in many way; gambling, compulsive cleaning, shopping, the list goes on and on. Recognize that what you’re wanting for is right here – whispering from the center of your own being.

It’s all just a longing to remember home.

Feed The Love

Dear Blessed One,

I had the March Awakening Tips all written and my finger was hovering over the send button as I was called to write something else.

We’ve probably all heard the story an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “Grandson, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

I share this with you to accentuate the importance of being aware of where your focus lies. My version of the story: There are two hungry wolves inside of us. One is Love, and the other Fear. Often we find ourselves alternately feeding both. No battle is necessary for one to win. All we need do is consciously feed Love. It then becomes big enough to embrace fear and not feed it.

Let’s open our hearts fully, and deeply feel the sadness, the pain, the helplessness, and any other feelings that arise when catastrophic events occur. Feeling into the emotional body is feeding Love. Pain heals, wounds dissipate, and fear dissolves.

This also keeps the mind from creating stories and perpetuating fear. Unplug from the media, that will help in keeping the heart open.

Let’s move into our hearts and carry with us all of Japan, her people, animals, land, nuclear reactors (yes, those too), and anyone/thing else you feel to bring, and move into the feeling of Love. While moving into the heart, visualize fuzzy puppies, newborn babies, or whatever it takes to spark the heart energies, and feed the Love.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

As scientist Greg Braden so nicely articulates:

“This is the science behind how we can choose a timeline to stay safe…basically time is not just linear (past, present and future), but it also has depth. The depth of time consists of all the possible prayers and timelines that could ever be prayed or exist. Essentially, all our prayers have already been answered. We just activate the one we’re living through our FEELINGS. THIS is how we create our reality – by choosing it with our feelings. Our feelings are activating the timeline via the web of creation, which connects all of the energy and matter of the Universe.

Remember that the law of the Universe is that we attract what we focus on. If you are focused on fearing whatever may come, you are sending a strong message to the Universe to send you whatever you fear. Instead if you can get yourself into feelings of joy, love, appreciation or gratitude, and focus on bringing more of that into your life, you are going to avoid the negative stuff automatically.

You will be choosing a different TIMELINE with your feelings.”

Heart Is Where The Home Is

Dear Blessed One,

Some years ago, I went through a period of time where my meditation and contemplation was only, “Who am I?”

One night after my question and then sitting in stillness waiting, I drifted off to sleep and a Light Being appeared. I felt happy and excited to be in its presence. It magically produced a big bag, reached inside and pulled out one of my memories. I said, “Hey, that’s mine!” It nodded and reached in and showed me more and more of my memories.

All of a sudden something came over me and I said, “Oh! You mean I’m just a big bag of memories?!” POOF! The Light Being disappeared. I took that as a ‘yes’.

A lightness of being came over me and all at once I could see that the past was not real. I was the one responsible for keeping something alive that was no longer here…just a memory, and even that wasn’t very accurate. I could clearly see that living in the past was keeping me stuck and creating suffering.

This realization was the beginning of my consciously choosing the present moment (over and over) as the mind drifted, creating or following stories and thoughts.

What I found was that when I am very aware, here-now, and in my feeling body, things from my past could rise to be felt, integrated and healed. As this process continued, I could feel my whole being restructuring without me doing anything. A relaxation at the core of my being began to happen and as that happened, I began finding more and more of Me here.

Someone once said, “The longest journey a man must take is the eighteen inches from his head to his heart.”

Heart is where the home is…
Magic happens when you arrive…come home.

Don’t Be Fooled By The Big, Bad Wolf

Dear Blessed One,

Fear is an illusion. It is a lamb dressed in wolf’s clothing.

Test it.

Identify your fear. In identifying your fear you begin stripping away the wolf-disguise. What you’ll find is an innocence that was misguided, misunderstood, or mistreated in some way. In that moment, a misconception happened, ‘it’s not safe to be here’.

A crystallization around the event happened and then got trapped or frozen in your energy field. Whenever anything gets close to disturbing that crystallized thought-form, the body feels nervous – a reaction to the past.

That energy will release naturally just by noticing it, feeling it, and allowing its presence to be there. It will continue to dissuade you from living your Wholeness if it stays locked away in the bowels of your being.

Don’t be fooled by the big, bad wolf. We’re all returned unharmed from the belly of the wolf…stronger and wiser.

Actually, many native Americans consider wolf as Teacher, Pathfinder, Moon-dog of the soul. Face the wolf; it could turn out to be a great teacher. Facing it will allow you to rediscover (dis-cover) your lamb-essence. Freedom lies in reclaiming your innocence.

It’s your God-given right to be free.

shellee

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.”

As You Heal, So Does The World

Dear Blessed One,

You can not not express God. It’s all there is.

God is manifest here in your form.

God moves thru you touching the lives of everyone you come in contact with. They too are God expressing.

God touching God. That’s what’s going on here. There is rhyme and reason here. There is order and perfection here.

The human mind may not be able to comprehend the purpose of some one or some thing but the mind of God knows.

Rest with that. Wasting energy trying to figure out, “Why?”, can cause suffering.

Rather, see if you can look upon your experience here as a catalyst to opening your heart and discovering the truth of Who you are.

Each time a judgment arises about life, take a moment to drop more deeply into your experience.

Instead of letting a story carry you away, feel it. See what comes. It may very well bring up anger or pain from an old wound of the past.

Life is giving you an opportunity to completely feel your past pain, the one that got frozen in your being, the one that got stuffed because it wasn’t safe to feel.

Feel it now, take it right into your being and give it to your heart. Love will heal and integrate as you allow all of it to be felt.

As you heal, so does the world. Don’t let the distractions of the outside world keep you blinded to You.

Your purpose is to remember Who you are, then you can remind those around you by reflecting That.

Tag, you’re It.

Blessings and Much Love to you,
shellee

Ordinary God

This morning I fell in love with the floor and the dust mop…
A feeling of total reverence
Like a fountain of pink bubbles rising to the surface
God gently gliding over God
While carefully collecting pieces of God
Loving
Loving
Loving
So whole
So complete
Where is God not?

Growth Comes From Our Deepest Pains

Dear Blessed One,

The Divine is here. It is standing right in front of you.

What is the Divine reflecting to you?

See if you can adjust your perception enough to recognize the Divine in the people you encounter. It’s there and offering you a gift.

Is your view so frozen that you’re not able to see it? Can you look beyond what the mind wants to judge as good or bad?

We are all reflections for the other and answering a call of the heart. Our gifts from (and to!) the other do not always come in pretty wrapping paper. Sometimes they’re actually so repulsive that it’s difficult to imagine how it could possibly be of benefit. It is, or it wouldn’t be. Period.

Are you seeing something beautiful in another person? That person is reflecting you to you. Do you have a desire for stronger and more clear boundaries? Don’t be surprised when someone shows up in your life who will teach you that very thing. It may not be fun, it might be messy, but it will be an answering to a silent prayer. Perhaps in time you will be able to find gratitude for the gift that person gave you.

Our greatest gifts and most profound growth usually comes from our deepest pains or tangled difficulties.

Look deep as you’re being gifted by the Divine. Don’t shoot the messenger – that person is there for your enlightenment. Don’t miss the treasure that’s being presented to you. Stay open to the possibility that Life does what Life does for a reason. It may not always be clear in the moment.

This practice will assist you in noticing that all is perfect, which will free you from the burdens of the world, opening you to the Light of your being.

Much Love and Blessings to You,

shellee
