Awakening Tips

You Can’t Kill Life

Dear Blessed One,

Okay, I know that seems like a bold statement. However, in my experience, it’s true.

Through leaving my body numerous times, I discovered that this stream of consciousness continues to call my particular form back into “reality” over and over until some evolutionary leap happens. It’s not over until Spirit has completed what it has come to experience in the body.

I’ll explain this the best I can.

In 1983, I was a passenger in the back seat of a car when the driver lost control. After a couple of 360’s, then hitting a tree rear-end first, I was catapulted through the rear window at approximately 80 mph. After flying through trees, my clothing shredded and one shoe torn from my foot (leather strap around the ankle was all that was left), my body finally landed far from the car.

People were frantically calling my name in search of me. I was responding, though the body was not moving or making any sounds. It was then that I realized I was no longer attached to the form. I was free! Flash forward; all of a sudden I was in the hospital and wondering how (and why) I was back in the body.

Years later I had similar experiences with a drug overdose, and then three years later again, when I attempted suicide.

It took another twelve years or so and many experiences of other dimensional realities to realize that life doesn’t die. We can try to kill it; we can even experience someone’s “death”. However, if it’s not time for an evolutionary leap into the next level of consciousness (whatever that may be), the one who is seemingly dying is only departing from this dimension, and awakening in another that looks very much like the one they just left (yes, with you in it).

These deaths are opportunities for accelerated growth, or awakening. Even though each one brings us closer to the conscious awareness of the infinite stream of Life that we are, the growth process can be difficult and quite painful.

The many layers of disidentification with ego is a kind of death, creating greater awareness of higher essence without the seeming death of form.

I woke up from my out of body experiences (death) with a, “Whew, that was close!” Actually, in one case, I was angry that I had to come back.

Consciousness, God, Source is infinite…and ever expanding. We are the universe conscious of itself. Our seeming realities are only the dimly lit surface of an incredible and vast sea of consciousness.

Once you have a direct experience of the bigger picture, you’ll see how much of an illusion normal reality is.

A story is told of a man who came to Babaji and asked to be one of his disciples. Babaji said, “You aren’t ready.” The man said, “But I’ve been looking for you for so long. If I cannot be your disciple, I might as well jump off this cliff, for my life is over.” Babaji said, “Do it then.” So the man did.

Then, Babaji told a couple of his other disciples to go retrieve the man’s body from the bottom of the cliff. When they had returned, and had laid the man out in front of the Master, Babaji touched him on the heart, and he was restored. As he opened his eyes and looked into the face of his Guru, Babaji said, “Now you are ready to be my disciple.”

Babaji knew that life was indestructible (and apparently wanted his disciple to know that too).

We can surrender all ideas and attempts of controlling life because it’s not ours to control. Whatever is transitioning, transpiring, or transforming is in perfect order.

It’s okay, relax. You can’t kill life.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

Visitors in the Night

Dear Blessed One,

What is reality? The reality that we’re taught to believe in is only a fragment of what’s available to us. I’ve momentarily popped into other dimensions and have met other dimensional beings in this reality on many occasions.

Last year after one of my drives down to LA, San Diego, and the SF Bay Area (and facilitating many events over the course of 11 days), I came home with some big pain in my body. The whole upper left quadrant from my ribcage and scapula to my neck, collarbone and ear was inflamed.

I tried many things to resolve it; you may have a similar list…Epsom salt soaks, bodywork, energywork, acupuncture, yoga, etc.

Approximately 3 months later I attended an event with an energyworker I’d seen numerous times, however, this time I went in with a clear intention. My intention was simple; to release the source of the pain and to receive assistance from more advanced beings in this or another dimension.

That night I awoke at 3:30a, went to the bathroom, and as soon as I lay back down and closed my eyes I felt the presence of someone in the room. I opened my eyes to see two Hindu Indian men sitting on my bed. Telepathically they let me know they were doctors. One of them (younger and I sensed he was an apprentice) was holding something about the size of a grapefruit, cocoon-like, while the other (much older, heavyset) was talking to me.

The young doctor, while chanting (phonetically spelled out) lowkhah, samistah, sookino (couldn’t recall the rest), and using a scalpel, gently cut a hole in the cocoon. A light gas seemed to emit from it. As he was pulling something out with long tweezers, the older doctor patted my arm and said, “Rest now.”

I felt like I’d been shot with anesthesia, my whole body was heavy and buzzing, and my eyelids fluttering as I was being taken into a deep sleep. Both doctors at this point were watching me and smiling. Then I moved out of my body and could see them working on my left shoulder and energy-field as I was lying there quite asleep.

The next morning I overslept and awoke feeling great. Yes, the body was also healed.

I certainly did not expect visitors in the night when I stated my intention. I have seen enough though to not go into fear. I felt the presence of these beings as loving and clear.

Ask and ye shall receive. Let go of the need to know. The how, when, what, and where are details that are given to us only as we need them.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

By the way, after many googles, I found the mantra the young Indian was chanting:

Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu

Translation: May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.

Busily Buzzing About

Dear Blessed One,

The natural process of life is always affirming itself. When we get out of the way, allow the natural unfolding to unfold naturally, we are constantly being guided to the next most perfect (albeit sometimes difficult) moment. This dance of life is the infinite evolution of spirit through form. Witness and allow its wondrous ways!

If you cut yourself, you don’t need to tell blood to clot now; blood knows how to coagulate without interference. That life wisdom works everywhere and it knows what is needed in each moment and all situations.

Remember surrender in every breath, every moment. Surrender does not mean giving up or giving in. Surrender is resting and not fighting with whatever is showing up in life (even the “fighter”). It is a softer meeting of every event, situation, feeling. It’s a dropping in and asking Life from a state of rest, “How shall I respond to this?” When you meet life’s expressions in this way, wisdom from your higher essence can guide and offer fresh remedies and creative solutions.

The mind is constantly broadcasting old news. Stop paying attention to it. Put your focus elsewhere.

All is well. Whatever you’re experiencing is serving a purpose. If it burns, watch what arises from the ashes. Burn, fight, moan, laugh, cry, scream. When we let energy have expression, release, it is allowed the very freedom it seeks and integration happens.

Life is a self-correcting system. Whenever we veer too far left, we are then directed to the right. This motion is like over-steering when you’re learning to drive. Eventually the sweet spot in steering is found. Blunders and mishaps are like over-steering. They’re part of the process of finding balance, center, the sweet spot.

Before landing in stillness, losing my mind was my greatest fear. I could see after I lost my mind that it was actually the mind that was crazy and the best thing that ever happened to me was to lose it. Stop thinking. Thinking stops when we stop listening and the best way to stop listening is to tune into something in the body, anything.

I once saw a cartoon of a character in his house totally obsessed with getting everything in its place, perfectly. As he listened to the noisy chatter guide him, he micromanaged every detail, correcting anything that shifted in the slightest way. He finally exhaled, smiled a smile of satisfaction and walked out the front door when immediately a safe fell on his head and finished him off.

Are you busily buzzing about and trying to control your life? It’s not yours to control. Surrender to the great wisdom of Life ~ it’s got you.

Life knows what’s best for life.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

“Right in the middle of “falling apart” and “holding it together” is the secret place. Stay there. Explore there. It is here where you will find the rest you are longing for, the remedy to the exhaustion of becoming. It is here where the light and the dark are in union, where integration and disintegration emerge as one in love….”

Energy Is All We Are

Dear Blessed One,

One morning in the early 90’s, I was sitting outside at the therapist’s office waiting for my turn to go inside. While resting in her yard watching the dance of nature, I noticed the bush next to me was covered and infiltrated with millions(?) of tiny white bugs that seemed to be hovering all over and through the bush. I was fascinated by it and moved closer to see what in the world was going on. Upon closer inspection, there were no bugs. It was energy; tiny little globules of light. It scared me. I’d never seen anything like that before.

That was the first time I’d ever witnessed the spinning energy that creates the physical world. Since then I’ve seen it on many, many occasions and in the moment it seems absurd that I can’t put my hand through walls, glass, or bodies because none of it is solid at all.

In deep meditations I’ve also experienced that sound, music, and words are energy and the different frequencies have a profound effect on the energy that makes up this physical world.

This may seem like rather simple science, however, have you considered the dynamic effects this has on what shows up in your life?

Energy is all we are. Where attention goes is where energy flows and where energy flows, reality grows.

Consider the power of negative thoughts and destructive self-talk. If everything is energy, what might that be creating? Though don’t use this as another reason to judge or punish oneself. That only creates more of the same.

Listen in, watch the mind, feel what’s being stirred, love that aspect of self, and watch what happens. Don’t resist the one who hates, the bitter one, the judgmental one, etc. Notice that it has arisen in the moment, watch it, feel the feelings, and tell that aspect of self that you love it. Bring an image into your mind that stirs love or gratitude in your heart and hold that in your awareness while also holding the challenging aspect of self.

If energy is all we are, might it be possible to reprogram how energy operates? Look around in your environment and see what else may be contributing to programming. Who do you spend time with and what is the nature of your relationship? What is the message of the music, TV, and movies you experience? All of this impacts the mind which helps to inform the body.

And remember while reprogramming, there are no two words more powerful than I Am. Be sure to use them wisely.

Rather than, I am sick, I am depressed, I am hopeless, what if you were to say; I am healing (or healed), I am experiencing joy and beauty, I am brilliant, holy, divine, awake? And instead of I am sad, use the word feel instead. There is much power in the spoken word.

Watch what follows the words I never, I always, etc. and make sure it’s something you really want.

You could also create a recording of beautiful affirmations and listen to them every night before bed for thirty days; I guarantee you’ll experience shifts.

You’ve probably heard it hundreds of times; what we resist persists. Allowing what’s here to be here, giving it attention, and flooding it with love heals the seeming separation and creates openings to deeper aspects of the exquisite love that you are.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

Yeah Baby, Go For It

Dear Blessed One,

Whose rules are these?

Where have you denied the truth of your Being to follow someone else’s rules; tenets you were programmed to believe? You are a sovereign, infinite, exquisite pinpoint of consciousness. You get to decide what works for you and what doesn’t. Really.

If where you are is not lighting your fire, choose something else. That choice could be as simple as choosing to stop fighting with where you are in life. You are not stuck, you are choosing to be where you are. When you can align with that, the challenge of where you are softens and you now have access to your Higher Essence for guidance; guidance that may show you there are other choices.

While you’re struggling with only-this-ness, in victim mode, or hating what is, you’re fighting with life and are in fight-or-flight mode where adrenals are stimulated, body is tense, and clarity is shutting down. In fight-or-flight mode, run, jump, or shoot seem to be the only choices (and I’m not talking basketball).

What flutters your heart and makes you want to sing, dance, or skip? That is spirit, your higher self, saying, “Yeah baby, GO FOR IT!” It may seem crazy to the mind to follow the guidance of the heart when in actuality what’s really crazy is listening to the mind and letting that guide us through life.

Don’t ask how, let go and let life flow. How is activating the mind and using what you’ve already experienced – old data. Life knows the Way, let it lead you. The creative impulse of life is always available to us and offering wild and wondrous new ways. Your higher essence talks to you through your heart.

Tuning into the inner landscape and seeing what’s moving there is a much better guide than the head, which bases its decisions on the past, never creating anything new, only rearranging the old pieces to seem like something new has been created just to maintain the illusion of security.

What’s my truth now? Ask this of yourself often, then be still and listen. Something may come through as a great revelation in one moment and then seem not-so-potent in another. Don’t let the mind disqualify it. The revelation or discovery has already integrated and your vibration is now set at a higher point. Yesterday’s news does not seem so magnificent. What’s my truth now? Truth is ever evolving, ever expanding…keep going! Life is building something and you don’t get to see the blueprints. Enjoy the creation and all its amazing intricacies as life constructs for you.

Drop into your heart and honor that deepest calling, the one that is saying do this! The one that is saying yes. The one that is whispering this is what we came for. Notice when the mind comes up with all the reasons why you need to stay where you are. And if you choose to stay where you are, honor that, and own the choice you’ve made in order to access peace, which is always present and waiting in stillness.

Be the remarkable Being that you are! Allow all the pieces to express their part in the ever-developing and magical you.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

One-Split-Second!

Dear Blessed One,

After 11 days on the road working in California, just one-hour into my Sunday afternoon journey home, a pick-up truck drifted left and grazed the Jersey Barrier. Right in front of me it flipped end-over-end and then rolled once before landing back up-right in the diamond lane. Bags and luggage came flying out windows, while glass and vehicle parts were strewn everywhere. Upon landing, three people jumped out, ran away from the smoking truck, and huddled in a big hug in the narrow, left breakdown lane.

It all happened in one-split-second…like a gymnast doing some fantastic freaking precision move!

At 75 miles per hour, I don’t know how I got past it without hitting anything or anyone! It had a big impact on me, stayed with me for the entire 5-hour drive home, and continued to linger in my field for days. Much happened in that one-split-second.

Although it was just a moment, time passed in slow motion as the bumper-to-bumper traffic seemed to move in a well-practiced, dare-devil, synchronized flight pattern around the danger. I hit the hazard lights, tapped the brakes, swerved from its path, and threw one hand up in prayer as an automatic move that I’ve used so many times in the 18-years of energy-work I’ve been doing. My heart pulsed with, “God Bless Us All!” and then I experienced the sensation of an amazing energy-field, like an electrical current, as I moved through and past the incident.

If you know my history (written in my first book, Suffering ~ A Path of Awakening) you can be certain that I know what adrenaline feels like…this was not that. There was Something Else in control of the entire experience. A force-field of infinite Love was managing the event for the purpose of touching each one of us who were witnessing it.

Imagine the people traveling in the high-speed lane just over the barrier seeing a truck flying through the air and potentially into oncoming traffic. How might this experience have shifted, altered them? What was their heart longing for? What was their grisly gripe? How was this experience just the medicine needed to heal the ache of separation, boredom, resignation, and increase the sense of appreciation, presence?

There is no way the truck driver’s driving ability had anything to do with the outcome of the incredible event.

My intention and personal prayer for the work I was doing as I was supporting so many people down south was to experience the next level of joy, awe, and appreciation of life.

Today the song of the birds seems more melodic, the flight of the geese more majestic, colors extra vivid, and the experience of love flowing to and from my heart more apparent and causeless. I have a sense of deeper appreciation for the wisdom of existence and an even greater appreciation for life and the beautiful connections with so many amazing people.

That Something Else is always tending to the things of life and knows what’s needed for each one of us. We can’t control how It moves. Set your intentions, make requests to life itself (through prayer, art, poetry, powerful mantras) and then watch to see how life serves and delivers in the most mysterious ways.

Stay awake. Presence is all that’s needed to recognize the daily miracles and to sense the Something Else that’s managing all of it, all ways.

Tune in to the messages that are so abundantly given. Listen deeply to the wisdom of your being. Life is a prayer. What are you praying for? How might the difficult, painful, or seeming disastrous situation be creating the shifts needed to answer the deep calling of your heart?

Life is always life-ing ~ creating, destroying, recreating ~ and has wisdom beyond human mental comprehension. Be here now in this one-split-second and experience deeply the miraculous undulations of life.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

Think Fractal

Dear Blessed One,

I’m working with some people who are feeling quite challenged with the way life is unfolding for them. They have ideas that they are (for some unknown reason) being punished by God, or are a victim of circumstances.

What can I do or how can I fix it are questions I’m most often asked in regard to their experiences.

The first thing I might offer is presence. Be here without the story. Drop any definition or label about the situation and just be present with it. Let go of ideas you may have about how life should be showing up right now. Recognize limiting thoughts you might be having about how an end result could be attained.

Get curious. Have you asked for healing? Healing comes in magical ways and often does not fit the conditioned mind’s way. Have you prayed for freedom? Freedom is an inside experience and has absolutely nothing to do with the external world. Life has mysterious ways of answering our deepest quests.

Does the difficult experience remind you of any others in your history? Is there a pattern currently happening? These are signs from life pointing to a shadow-aspect of self, directing attention inward to heal an old wound, and always for your greater expansion.

It’s easy to miss the gift of the experience if one is blaming and caught in the victim-stance. The good news is, until the gift is received, we’re faced with many opportunities to receive it. This is not punishment, it is the compass of life continuing to point.

And there is nothing to fix. Life has not made a mistake. Take a few deep, conscious breaths and then see if you can reframe your perspective. Can you eliminate the old picture and insert a new one? Some possible reframes for, God is punishing me:

– What is life wanting me to see about me?
– Is this an opportunity disguised as an obstacle?
– I wonder what the purpose of this experience is?
– What have I asked for that this might actually be creating?

Hold it lightly, honor it all. Life is taking you on a ride that already has an ultimate destination. See if you can tune in to the scenery as the journey unfolds. Listen to the prompts of your inner GPS. Sometimes you might need to shut out the noise, slow down a bit, and listen more closely to the directions.

Keep a keen eye…you will know when you’ve read the signs correctly because you’ll be seeing a new landscape.

You are so very, very wise. Remember what a wonderful creator you are and trust what is showing up. Look at it from as many angles as you can without trying to figure it out. Curiosity creates openings. Openings create more movement.

No matter what you think, you are right on track, perfectly creating the next adventure needed to take you to the next most perfect moment. Think fractal.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

Wobble, Rewire, and Expand

Dear Blessed One,

I’m sure you have experienced difficult times in life. Can you remember during times of struggle the challenges of the past? With a keen eye (sometimes that is what’s needed), can you see the magical effects of those challenges when looking back?

Triggers, reactions, and resistance are portals, great openings to an abandoned sensitivity – something that didn’t get full expression during the event. This is a gift from Source, a sacred offering to greater freedom. Honor what’s coming into your awareness.

Notice if you’ve become infatuated with the many details and dramas of these seemingly separate lives. See if you can observe what’s arising in the moment with curious detachment – without identification or intense importance to what’s presenting itself. You’ve called this event (or person) into your field in order to deepen, heal, integrate, expand.

The pulse of life is spontaneously arising within you responding to whatever is buried deep and at the most opportune time for your highest good. You don’t have to dig for it, if it’s up that means Life has said this is the time. It no more needs your assistance or direction than the blood in your veins does…it’s organic, a most natural and perfect process.

The source of Life itself knows precisely what it’s doing. Life knows what’s needed for Life’s next expansion. It’s not yours to control, fix, or change. When it’s time for something else, something else appears (watch closely, it might be another clue pointing, confirming, or validating something you are already sensing).

Sadness, anger…these are pointers to the inner workings of the body, not to be figured out in the mental realm. Feeeeeel into what’s stirring, that’s all one need do.

Oftentimes as something is coming up to be healed and integrated there is a sense of awkwardness, a wobbly feeling, that can be misinterpreted. Wobbly is a releasing of something old and an entering of something new…no longer there and not quite here. Allow the unravel from the tangles of the past to happen. This is a time of rewiring and expansion.

Don’t forget who you are. You are greater than the drama that the mind is creating. Let yourself dissolve out of the comfort-zone, which is just a nice way to say stagnant. You are fluid, let go and let yourself flow.

There is marvelous beauty waiting just the other side of a wobble, rewire, and expand.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee

The Purpose of Life

Dear Blessed One,

The purpose of life is to come together, explore together, expand together, and evolve. The evolution that is accomplished is the organic outcome of our interactions.

As we move together in this dance of life, there is a stripping away of self, often via the exterior in order to take you in to meet your deeper self. Sometimes this happens in a flash through a “crisis”, and other times it happens more slowly. Though the crisis-leaps can be more challenging, they are huge steps to the newer you, and to Life as a whole! The extended-shedding may not be as noticeable to the evolving one; it may take someone pointing out to them that they are changing.

I’ve heard people say to me, “It seems never-ending! I feel like I’ll never wake up.” And, “Yeah but it’s challenging being in the real world and keeping tuned into the spiritual life.”

It’s all spiritual. The real world is spirit in form, which is everything. “Never-ending” is story, mind-identification, which of course causes suffering. I hear that it’s not easy, it is however simple. Just.Be.Here. Nothing needs to be known until it’s shown.

What are you looking for beyond this most precious and holy moment? What does the mind say is needed for you to be more complete, more perfect, more magnificent than what’s arising in this most amazing moment? Trying to surrender? You’ll be surrendered if that’s needed. Ride the waves…they’re perfect. They too have purpose. It is the friction needed to assist in the stripping away of that which no longer serves you and those around you.

There is a MOMENT of opportunity when one realizes they’re following the mind…
In that moment one could ask the question, “Why would I choose suffering?”
That’s what listening to the mind is, choosing suffering.
Listen deeply to the Wisdom that flows through you.
This is before mind.

Suffering happens when you have “this”, want “that”, and then make up a story about it. How can you rest with what’s here or even want what you have, recognizing that it too has purpose? You can do that by dropping whatever story you’re following and surrendering to the way the world moves. When judgment drops and fighting with how life is showing up ends, it no longer matters anymore what happens on the outside, nothing can touch That Which You Are because you now recognize it’s all That.

This is how to be in the world and not of it. Sure, you’ll still have feelings, they won’t destroy you though. They pass so much more quickly and don’t leave wreckage in their wake. You’re then able to respond to life rather than react from the seeming separate self.

Let the outside real world dissolve. It doesn’t mean it will look any different; the way you relate to everything is what shifts.

Tune into the infinite, sovereign, beingness of the light and the love that you are by listening deeply to what life is offering you in every single moment. Every person in your field is an aspect of Self that you’ve called in for your own personal evolution. Receive their gift, offer them yours, and let go of the thoughts that are saying it has to be different. The outcome is not yours to manage.

It’s soft, it’s subtle, and it’s the most natural way.

Much Love and Blessings to You,
shellee
